The Jackie Robinson West 12-year-old, all-star team will be representing Illinois at the Great Lake Regional Tournament, which gets underway today in Indianapolis.

The Jackie Robinson West 12-year-old, all-star team will be representing Illinois at the Great Lake Regional Tournament, which gets underway today in Indianapolis. Jackie Robinson West, which captured the Illinois State title last week, will face Kentucky’s state Little League champions today. They will also be in action Saturday in a 9:30 a.m. contest against Indiana. JRW will be in the final game of the first round play Monday when they take on the Ohio champions in a 7:30 p.m. match up. Following the first round  play, there will be a playoff to determine which team advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., that will take place Aug. 15-24. Meanwhile, Jackie Robinson West is hosting the Illinois State 10-11 year old tournament at Jackie Robinson Park, 107th and Vernon St., this week. Action gets underway Saturday at 12:30 p.m. Teams from Moline, Tri-Cities, Hinsdale and Jerseyville will be in action at the tournament, which ends Aug. 9. ______ Copyright 2008 Chicago Defender.
