New Initiative Launches Southern Bus Tour and Northern Joint Rallies (CHICAGO) – The Rainbow PUSH Coalition is proud to announce a historic new community partnership with the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. (PNBC) Social Justice Commission and the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) to launch “The People’s Revival.”
This voter mobilization campaign launches in the fall of 2026 across Texas, Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio, and Michigan. The initiative deploys a Southern bus tour alongside Northern joint rallies to reach voters directly within their local communities.
“The Rainbow PUSH Coalition is absolutely thrilled to join this vital partnership because we are witnessing an urgent crisis as state and federal protections, including the Voting Rights Act, are systematically rolled back,” said Yusef D. Jackson, President and CEO of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition.
“With our democratic rights being intentionally cut to silence minority communities, this historic alliance is necessary to fight back. By uniting the moral authority of the church with the organizing power of labor unions, we are building a multi-state volunteer infrastructure that ensures our communities are deeply moved to take decisive action at the ballot box.” This alliance brings together civil rights, faith-based, and labor organizations to reach registered Black voters who did not participate in recent elections.
Moving away from standard broadcast advertisements, the campaign utilizes established community networks to discuss the upcoming 2026 midterms. The joint effort presents voting as both a civic responsibility and an act of labor solidarity.
The campaign uses two distinct regional formats tailored to each area. In the South, a campaign bus will visit local church sanctuaries, college campuses, and community hubs. In the North, the campaign will host joint rallies inside local labor halls in coordination with labor constituency groups.
Every stop along the tour is structured to train local participants and establish a permanent network of volunteers. By combining local leadership, campus outreach, and defined per-stop budgets, the partnership aims to build sustainable, long-term voter turnout infrastructure.
