Jennifer Mosley is a Black woman trailblazer who has one foot in community nonprofit work and another in Corporate America. Her dual roles as Board President of local nonprofit HelloBaby (recently garnering national attention on CBS and ranked this year’s Top Rated Play Place and Top Rated Family Activity by Google) and as Senior Associate at the Obama Foundation is a unique opportunity to be a driving force in the Woodlawn community.
HelloBaby is a local nonprofit organization that is the country’s first free standing and free of charge play space, located at 600 E. 61st St. in Woodlawn. Mosley helped develop the organization’s staffing structure, program curriculum, and currently leads the organization’s major events. The organization will be opening its second location in Avalon Park later this year.
“I believe that there’s so much support needed by Chicago families to live prosperous lives,” said Mosley. “I believe in how dedicated HelloBaby is to helping families in their own communities. Families should not have to leave Woodlawn to get the support they need in Woodlawn.”
The Obama Presidential Center just opened to the public, also in the Woodlawn neighborhood, on Juneteenth, June 19, 2026. Mosley has been in her role at the Obama Foundation for the last year and a half.
She continues to maintain her role as Board President for HelloBaby, with an understanding that HelloBaby’s mission is about community, just like Former President Barack Obama envisioned for his foundation and center.
“Although both roles are completely different, each allows me the chance to change lives and reinforce a stronger narrative about the Woodlawn community. It’s truly a beautiful community with hard working families.”
The Obama Presidential Center stands tall in the Woodlawn neighborhood, located at 6001 S. Stoney Island. The center has received local and national media attention since its launch.
Mosley said that her role at the foundation brings her work in the community full circle.
“Whether it’s providing safe spaces for babies and small children at HelloBaby, or it’s educating and inspiring local residents inside of the Obama Presidential Center, I’m proud to be a part of changing the Woodlawn community. It’s a community in Chicago that often receives negative recognition, but Chicago should be proud of what Woodlawn is doing to revitalize the city’s South Side.”
