Fields Tops Bears in Social Media, Far Below the NFL’s No. 1 Influencer

This news should come as no surprise, but the Chicago Bears’ biggest social media influencer is quarterback Justin Fields.

This information comes from sports betting site bookmakers.bet, which recently looked at all 32 NFL franchises to pick the one player who has the largest Instagram following on each team.

The Bears signal-caller has the most IG followers on his team, with almost 1.1 million.

Yet, Fields isn’t the NFL’s top social media influencer. And it isn’t Super Bowl-winning quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, either.

That man is Odell Beckham, Jr., the newly-signed Baltimore Ravens wide receiver best known for making a one-handed catch in a football game almost nine years ago.

Odell Beckham, Jr.

“It’s interesting to see that for some teams, their most influential player on social media isn’t even the most successful player on the team, showing that achievements on the internet don’t always translate to on the field,’ said a bookmakers.bet spokesperson. Despite this, social media has paved the way for many’ side hustles’ in the NFL, with many players taking brand deals through their strong social media followings.”

NFL’s Top 5 Social Media Influencers

Beckham is, by far and away, the NFL’s most prominent social media influencer. And it isn’t even close.

He has 17.2 million Instagram followers, about 11.6 million more than Mahomes, who finished second at the time of the study at 5.6 million followers.

Rounding out the top five are Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson with 5.5 million, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow with 3.85 million and New England Patriots wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster with 3.45 million.

Fields’s IG follower count might be low compared to these top dogs. But take heart, Bears fans.

It far exceeds that of Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love who had 209,330 Instagram followers at the time of the study.

Love’s follower count was tops on the Packers but was still the single lowest total out of all the NFL’s top influencers.
