From stages to boardrooms, over 3000 people have attended the Chicago Culture Ball to celebrate the achievements of exceptional individuals who positively impact the African American experience and represent Black excellence. The distinguished Culture & Arts Award recipients are national purveyors of the culture who have demonstrated excellence in fashion, arts, music, business, or entertainment. In partnership with Wallace’s family, organizers have now established the 2026 Landon “DJ Commando” Wallace Memorial Scholarship, designed to invest in Chicago’s next generation of talent and creatives. The inaugural recipient of the scholarship is expected to be recognized during this year’s Culture Ball, allowing Wallace’s impact on Chicago culture to continue by creating an opportunity for someone coming behind him. For years, DJ Commando helped provide the soundtrack to the Chicago Culture Ball.
