*Has Phaedra Parks finally had enough of her husband Apollo Nida? According to reports, the answer could be “yes.”
A source with RadarOnline.com reveals the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star is about to close the book on her marriage to Apollo with a divorce, which she would have done sooner but she “feared for her safety.”
Another reason for the split, the source claims, is Apollo’s infidelity and the fact that he was spending all of Phaedra’s money. Now that he’s started serving his eight-year prison sentence being convicted in July of conspiring to commit mail, wire and bank fraud, the timing looks to be perfect for Phaedra.
“Phaedra has been patiently waiting for Apollo to begin serving his prison sentence, and will have him served with divorce papers at the correctional facility in Kentucky,” a source told Radar.
“There was no way Phaedra was going to put her life on hold for the next decade, awaiting Apollo to be released. The marriage was a huge mistake, but did give her their beloved kids. There were serious trust issues with Apollo, and Phaedra suspects he has been unfaithful, and has been burning through money. Phaedra has always been the breadwinner, and she began to resent it.”
Concern for her safety “prevented Phaedra from filing for divorce in the past,” the source added as he mentioned how this was not the case now. “Having Apollo behind bars gives Phaedra a huge level of comfort and security. It’s sad that it came to this, but Phaedra knows it’s the right thing for her to do.”
If a divorce is truly on the horizon for Phaedra and Apollo, her rep Steve Honig isn’t saying. Instead, Honig mentioned that his client is focused on raising her kids and keeping her head above water.
“Phaedra is now putting all of her energy into ensuring the well-being of her two children and making decisions that are in their best interests,” he told Radar . “This situation has put a tremendous strain on Phaedra and her family, and she is working hard to bring back a sense of normalcy to everyone’s lives.”
All lips may be silent from Phaedra’s camp, but that hasn’t stopped Kandi Burruss from teasing “RHOA” fans about details of the split that will be revealed on the show’s upcoming season.
“It’s a lot of stuff about [the Phaedra and Apollo] situation that you’re going to find out on the new season, so I can’t really tell you. I can’t, but it’s some things that will be surprising about that situation that’s going to come out on the new season,” she said during an appearance on The Breakfast Club morning radio show this week. “So I can’t go too far about that. It’s some things that’s going to come back that you’ll see that you’re going to be like, ‘huh!?’”
