Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of UP TO $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the individuals responsible for a mass shooting that claimed the lives of two people and injured five others early Friday morning on Chicago’s South Side.

On Friday, June 5, 2026, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a group of individuals had gathered in the 5100 block of South Wood Street when two unknown male offenders approached and opened fire on the crowd before fleeing the scene. The shooting resulted in two fatalities and five additional victims suffering injuries.

Area Detectives are actively investigating and are seeking assistance from the public to identify and locate those responsible.

“This tragic shooting is yet another example of the senseless gun violence that continues to plague our communities,” said Paul Rutherford, Executive Director of Cook County Crime Stoppers. “These shootings are happening far too often, leaving families devastated and neighborhoods traumatized. We urge anyone who witnessed this incident or has information about those responsible to come forward. People can remain completely anonymous when providing information to Cook County Crime Stoppers. You do not have to give your name, speak to the police, or testify in court. Even the smallest detail could be the key to helping investigators bring justice to the victims and their families.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to submit an anonymous tip through Cook County Crime Stoppers. Tipsters can remain 100% anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $10,000 if their information leads to the arrest of the person(s) responsible. No names are required, and callers will be assigned a confidential code number to protect their identity.
