More than 75 teens from Boys & Girls Clubs of Joliet met with local employers and professionals to explore potential career paths, learn about workforce opportunities and gain firsthand insight into life after high school.
This event – supported by Caesars Entertainment – was held at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Joliet (226 E. Clinton St., Joliet, Ill., 60432) and featured interactive career exploration stations where teens connected directly with employees from Harrah’s Joliet Hotel & Casino and other local businesses. Professionals shared their career journeys, discussed the skills employers are looking for and answered the teens’ questions about different industries and career pathways. Following the career exploration activities, Club members participated in a skating party.
The reasons for this event are simple.For many young people, direct access to professionals and employers can help make future career possibilities feel more tangible. By connecting teens with members of their local business community, the event gives young people an opportunity to ask questions, explore different industries and begin thinking about the skills and experiences that can help prepare them for the workforce.
