Comedian D.C. Young Fly Hosts Free Cultural Celebration Featuring Historical Vigil, Live Music, Cultural Performances, Free Food, School Supplies and Community Open Mic
Community members, local organizers, and international supporters will gather this weekend for the annual Chairman Fred Hampton Streetz Party Birthday Celebration. Organized by his son, Chairman Fred Hampton Jr., alongside Mother Akua Njeri, the Black Panther Party Cubs (BPPC) and the Save The Hampton House initiative, the multi-day community celebration honors the life, love and revolutionary vision of Black Panther Party Deputy Chairman Fred Hampton Sr. on what would’ve been his 78th birthday.
Spanning historic sites from his childhood home in Maywood to Chicago’s West Side, the Streetz Party features family-friendly entertainment, live music combined with political education, free food and school supplies and massage therapy to serve and heal the community—mind, body and soul.
“By gathering at the Hampton House—a sacred site of resistance and community memory—we don’t just look back at history; we actively fuel the blueprint Chairman Fred left behind for international solidarity, grassroots empowerment, and self-determination,” said Fred Hampton Jr.

- Details: Free outdoor community festival hosted by actor/comedian D.C. Young Fly and a Children’s Stage + Open Mic hosted by Mike Lawry Baby. Live performances featuring Philmore Greene, K Love the Poet, Tarrey Torae, J. Ivy, GLC, Zion Ali, Baldhead and sounds by DJ Psyde FX & Team ENT.
