Chicago DJs showed up and showed out on social media this past weekend. While the majority of city residents were confined to their homes this weekend in an effort to flatten the curve, DJs provided a welcome release and opportunity to connect virtually through music.
Last Thursday, Lena Waithe and BET teamed up for an exclusive screening for her new series 'Twenties' at Chicago's Moonlight Studios. Hundreds of twenty-something Chicagoans appeared in their flyest attire to watch the coming-of-age series starring newcomers Jonica "JoJo" T. Gibbs, Christina Elmore, and Gabrielle Graham, followed by the after-party with sounds provided by DJ Cashera, The Franchise, and Sean Mac.
It was cold outside - a blustery 18 degrees with sub-zero wind chills, however, it did not stop fans from filling up the 130-year old Auditorium Theatre this past Saturday evening to witness another explosive performance by Too Hot to Handel: the Jazz-Gospel Messiah in Chicago.
The City of Chicago is known as the birthplace of house music, but there is no house music without the contributions of DJ, Remixer and Producer, Frankie Knuckles. On the weekend of what would have been his 65th birthday, his legacy and impact on the genre and culture of house music will be celebrated with events this weekend.

The winners will be spotlighted at 51st NAACP Image Awards live on Saturday, February 22, 2020, on the BET network.
