Chicago Community Alliance will have its Summer Fest West from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Marshall High School Campus Park, 3300 W. Jackson Blvd.
The event will be hosted by Alderman Jason C. Ervin and City Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin.
A parade will kick-ff at 11 a.m. from Laramie and Washington streets; the festival will take place from noon to 3 p.m.; and a book bag giveaway will take place at 3 p.m.
Entertainment will include Gospel music from noon to 1:30 p.m.; Blues from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m.; and Hip Hop from 2:15 to 3 p.m.
There also will be youth activities, food, as well as health screenings for adults and back-to-school physicals for young people.
The event is free and open to the public.
