The Rainbow PUSH Coalition will host a special upcoming Saturday Morning Forum
titled, “America at 250: There’s Still Work to Do!” In observance of the Independence Day holiday, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition Headquarters will be closed on Saturday, July 4. While the physical building will not be open, the public is invited to watch a special broadcast of the forum starting at 10:00 a.m. CST. As America commemorates its 250th anniversary milestone, this broadcast provides an essential platform to reflect on our nation’s progress while directly recognizing the profound work that still remains.
This special event features a distinguished panel of leaders dedicated to civil rights, faith, and community advocacy. The featured guests include Yusef D. Jackson, President and CEO, Rainbow PUSH Coalition; Rev. Dr. Jamal Bryant, Pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church; Rev. Stephen Thurston II, Pastor of New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church; Rev. Ginger Gaines Cirelli, Pastor of Foundry United Methodist Church; Rev. Michael “Mike” McBride, Executive Director of LIVE FREE; and Chief Chuck Hoskin, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation.
Together, these prominent voices will engage in a timely and critical conversation on advancing liberty, justice, and equality as we continue the collective journey of fulfilling the American promise.
“America’s 250th birthday should not only commemorate where we have been but challenge us to become the nation we have always claimed to be,” said Yusef D. Jackson. “Our flag is red, white, and blue, and our nation is a rainbow—Black people, Native peoples, Latinos, and diverse groups of immigrants, all precious in God’s sight. At this point in history, we must reflect on the continuing gap that exists between the nation’s promise and its reality. Closing that gap and building a better America requires organized people, courageous coalitions, and disciplined action, which is the exact mission of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition.”
The public can watch the powerful broadcast live beginning at 10:00 a.m. CST on The Word Network, WJYS, YouTube, Facebook, and WVON. As we celebrate Independence Day, this forum serves as a collective call to action to recommit ourselves to building a nation where the promise of liberty, justice, and opportunity is fully realized for every community and every generation.
Founded by Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., the Rainbow PUSH Coalition is a multi-racial, multi-issue, progressive, international membership organization fighting for social change. Yusef D. Jackson, the President and CEO, is now leading the organization’s long-standing mission to protect, defend, and gain civil rights by leveling economic and educational opportunities and ensuring social justice and peace.
