One on One with 1st District Congressional Candidate Karin Norington-Reaves

Democratic candidate for the 1st Congressional seat, Karin Norington-Reaves is the CEO of the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership. is the CEO of the Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership. In her role as CEO, Norington-Reaves works to connect people to careers and businesses to people. With over 30 years of experience in job creation, education, advocacy, and community development, Norington-Reaves seeks to represent the majority-black populated district that includes most of the south side of Chicago extending to Joliet.

She is a litigator, advocate, nonprofit leader, and adjunct law professor who has held roles with the Department of Justice, Citizens Utility Board, Teach for America, and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. She announced her candidacy in January and was endorsed by the current 1st District Representative, Congressman Bobby Rush, who after serving 15 terms, is leaving office. Running on a platform focused on the economy, job creation, education, public safety, healthcare, and voting rights. Norington-Reaves believes her experience over her 30-year career separates her from the other candidates. If elected Norington-Reaves would be the first woman to represent the district.
