Den of Thieves, a premium crafted whiskey created by New York native Jason Armstrong is preparing to make its way into the Chicago spirit’s market. The grandson of a bootlegger, Jason Armstrong launched Den of Thieves in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Armstrong, an advent whiskey drinker, says he wanted a whiskey that tastes good and paired well with different flavor profiles.
“There are some great tasting whiskeys, in the market,” says Armstrong. “But they may not pair well with different flavor infusions, like chocolate, or ginger and vanilla. I did not want to have just a good-tasting whiskey. I also wanted it to taste good with the different flavor profiles.” Their whiskey is batched in three variations. The Straight Bourbon, Chocolate, and Ginger-Vanilla. The Straight Bourbon is aged in charred oak barrels and offers a hint of smokiness with a vanilla and caramel finish. The Chocolate presents notes of dark roasted vanilla coffee and the Ginger-Vanilla, infused with natural vanilla, offers hints of ginger.
“I love the surprise people get when they try Den of Thieves, says Jason. “People drink it, and they’re like, oh wow. I like this. The different markets are loving it because it’s hand-selected and crafted for every whiskey drinker to enjoy.” According to Armstrong, the smooth and approachable whiskey is comparable to Bulleit Bourbon. It is the perfect addition to cocktail bars, restaurants, or lounges. Mixologists will enjoy mixing Den of Thieves Whiskey in cocktails. The Chocolate makes an “amazing Manhattan.”
