Expansion of one runway at O’Hare is complete

Airplanes coming in and out of Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport are starting to use a newly extended runway. The east-west runway was extended 3,000 feet. That means the runway is now nearly 2 1/2 miles long. The extension that was completed about two months ahead of schedule won’t add flight capacity at the airport, but it will allow the airport to focus on other aspects of the $15 billion expansion project.  AP ______ Copyright 2008 Associated Press.
