A Texas man is facing murder charges after he allegedly beat an elderly military veteran to death over a parking spot, PEOPLE reports.

On Friday (Dec. 6), 80-year-old Earl Hollins “suffered a severe head injury” during an altercation outside of a grocery store in Houston, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a statement.

Hollins was taken to the hospital following the attack. Family members took him off life support on Saturday (Dec. 14).

57-year-old Anthony Ray Boyce was identified as the suspect in Hollins’ fatal attack.

According to court documents, Boyce allegedly struck Hollins during a dispute over a parking spot. The attack left Hollins with a brain bleed that resulted in his death, investigators alleged in the document.

Gonzalez noted that Boyce and Hollins knew each other, but the nature of their relationship remains unclear.

Boyce formerly worked as a substitute teacher with a school district in Cypress, Texas. His bond has been set at $200,000, according to court records.
