We heard the rumors and saw the free-flowing dresses Kerry Washington donned that hid her stomach and it all turned out to be evidence that the “Scandal” star is pregnant!
Washington is reportedly expecting her first child in spring with her hubby, NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha, who she secretly wed this summer.
Washington quietly wed the San Francisco 49ers cornerback in a in a small ceremony in Hailey, Idaho, on June 24, and has made a point to tell reporters she’s keeping quiet about her personal life (although she has been spotted wearing her ring). Her friends tell People magazine that she likely would’ve kept quite about the baby too, but with her upcoming stint on Saturday Night Live this weekend, “she didn’t want the focus to be on whether or not she has a bump.” Smart move, we all saw her burgeouing bump on her Jimmy Kimmel appearance!
We wonder if she’ll make a joke about it on SNL, but don’t hold your breath for more details during her pregnancy. In a recent interview with Glamour magazine, Kerry noted why she stays so private about her personal matters:
“I learned through experience that it doesn’t work for me,” she said. “I’ve had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it. But I couldn’t just turn around and say, ‘I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.’ So I just thought, ‘Okay, no more.’ I’m walking around in the world with my ring. And when people say congratulations, I say thank you.”
