MORROW, Ga. — Clayton State University is hosting a film screening of the award-winning PBS documentary Freedom Summer followed by a panel discussion on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016. The film begins at 4 p.m., and the panel discussion/audience conversation starts at 6:30 p.m.
CSU Library is presenting a documentary that explores the African American fight for voting rights in Mississippi in 1964 entitled Freedom Summer.
The film is part of Created Equal: America’s Civil Rights Struggle, an initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities that uses the power of documentary films to encourage community discussion of America’s civil rights history. NEH has partnered with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History to develop programmatic and support materials for the sites.
Scheduled panelists include Dr. Eric Bridges, associate professor of Psychology; Dr. Jelani Favors, assistant professor of History; and Dr. Joshua Meddaugh, assistant professor of Political Science.
The film and discussion will take place in room 101 of Clayton State University’s Harry S. Downs Center for Continuing Education.
