Gospel veteran Bryan Wilson is excited about the new “Kerry Douglas Presents Gospel Mix VI” CD that goes live on iTunes and other digital stores this Tuesday, August 20th while the physical CD hits Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target and other chain stores September 3rd.

The reason for Wilson’s excitement isn’t just because he has a track on the CD but also because of what it represents for this stage of his career. “I’ve been trying for years to define who I am as an adult artist versus the kid who did all the high notes and runs with the Mississippi Children’s Choir,” Wilson says. “I’m proud of that period of my life and it’s amazing how many gospel and R&B artists tell me their parents made them study that old video of me singing `His Eye is on the Sparrow’ so they could become singers themselves. However, I’m really excited that I’ve been writing my own music and collaborating with other people to create a new sound that represents this season of my life.”

One of those representations is the song “It Will Happen For Me” that’s featured on the Gospel Mix CD. Wilson wrote the song and Christian Medice produced it. “Christian has a great studio in Brooklyn, NY,” Wilson says. “We started the song as a ballad and then my manager asked Christian to do this unique piano intro before it segues into a contemporary retro thing that really came out well but the main thing about the song is the message. So, many of us are waiting on something from God – spiritually or materially – but the song just says it will happen in God’s timing.”
