The first thing that many people didn’t know about the late, legendary Prince’s sister is … that he even had a sister. And based upon her tumultuous and scandalous adulthood, it is easy to see why the Purple One didn’t mention her much.
Then again, His Royal Badness didn’t talk much to begin with, so it was very hard to learn anything personal about Prince, either.
Prince Rogers Nelson’s sister, Tyka Nelson, greeted the multitude of the musicians’ fans outside of his Paisley Park musical edifice in suburban Minneapolis, saying: ‘”He really loved you all.”

Nelson, 55, is in line to inherit the balance of the gargantuan $800 million from Prince’s estate, even though, according to multiple media reports, there is no will. According to to Minnesota law, the wealth of an unmarried individual with no children goes to their grandparents, parents and siblings. Since Prince’s and Tyka Nelson’s parents, John L. Nelson and Mattie Shaw, have passed away, the sister is the lone heir apparent.
Last year, Prince had entered into an agreement with Tidal granting them exclusive rights to stream his music. A savvy businessman, Prince’s manager Owen Husney, told CNN that Prince’s catalog is worth over $500 million because he had finally acquired ownership of his masters from Warner Bros after a prolonged legal battle (that included Prince changing his name to an unpronounceable symbol and writing the word “slave” on his face for an extended period of time).
Tyka Nelson, is the antithesis of the Prince who became a Jehovah Witness who swore off drugs, nicotine and alcohol — and even his own sexually suggestive music that made him an international megastar.

Tyka Nelson, who was born in 1960, was much like her brother and parents and was musically inclined. She started writing music at age 10 and is also a singer. But, unlike Michael Jackson and sister Janet, she would not become a musical success story that could rival her brother.
Despite being an attractive girl, she was wracked with self-esteem issues that began early in childhood, City Pages reports in 2008.
“For a long time I didn’t want to live,” she says.
A lovely woman two years Prince’s junior, Tyka has large brown eyes and a gentle laugh, one she doesn’t put her voice into.
“I’m very quiet,” she says. “In the beginning, my brother would play the piano and I would sing, because that’s what my mom and dad did. And then along the way somebody teased me for even thinking that I could get up there. That stayed with me, and I became very shy.”
Nelson began recreational weed smoking early in adolescence to ease the pain of being teased as untalented and unattractive:
“My world was different from theirs,” she told the publication. “I was the overweight kid who didn’t have a boyfriend. I listened to other people say, ‘You’re ugly, you’re fat, you’re stupid,’ and I believed it. My brother, he just thought I was crazy.”
Nelson, who is a single mother, was once was a crack cocaine addict and prostituting herself to support her two young sons, Sir Montece Laeil Nelson and President LenNard Laeil Nelson.
Nelson admitted to the National Enquirer in a 2003 interview, “I was a single mother and my boys were babies. I sold my body for food, money and pampers. I pawned the car Prince had given me and sold the kids’ TV for drugs.”
Because of her reckless behavior, Prince was estranged from his sister for a long time, although the relationship was repaired in recent years.
