CHICAGO (AP) — Potential jurors are filling out questionnaires that will help determine if they’ll sit in judgment of a man accused in the slayings of celebrity Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.

CHICAGO (AP) — Potential jurors are filling out questionnaires that will help determine if they’ll sit in judgment of a man accused in the slayings of celebrity Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.
Earlier Thursday, they got their first look at the accused man as William Balfour greeted the potential jurors in the Chicago courtroom. Balfour spoke in a firm voice when the judge introduced him. He said, "Good afternoon, everybody." Many in the pool of would-be jurors responded in unison: "Good afternoon."
The moment came shortly before the judge read a potential witness list that includes Jennifer Hudson’s name. It took the judge more than 10 minutes to read the list. The judge asked if anyone was acquainted with any of the names he read. About 10 people raised their hands.
