Woman charged with hitting grandson with cord

A Chicago woman is charged with whipping her 12-year-old grandson with an extension cord.

CHICAGO (AP) — A Chicago woman is charged with whipping her 12-year-old grandson with an extension cord.

The Chicago Tribune reports court records show that Corliss Holland allegedly struck the boy Friday, causing minor cuts to his legs, arms and back, with the cord because he had left their block after she had told him not to.

She was arrested after Holland’s husband called police to the home on the city’s South Side.

A judge ordered her held in lieu of $50,000 bail and that she not have any contact with her grandson. It was not immediately clear if she’d posted bail. A telephone number for Corliss Holland has been disconnected, and Holland could not be reached for comment.
