CHICAGO (AP) _ A woman who has not been identified by authorities was attacked by five pit pulls as she walked along a South Side Chicago street.
Chicago police spokesman News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli says the woman was attacked Thursday by dogs believed to have broke free from a nearby yard.
Authorities say a man passing by in a van apparently saw the woman being attacked and used his van to scare the dogs off of her. He dragged the woman into the van and called for paramedics.
The owner of the pit bulls, 32-year-old Christian Hidalgo of Chicago, received four citations for each of the five dogs. Mirabelli says the citations were for failure to maintain a dangerous animal, failure to maintain the animal under restraint, no license and no required rabies vaccination.
