CaTanya A. Norwood is a distinguished healthcare leader whose career reflects legacy, purpose, service, and lasting impact. A native Chicagoan, she is a proud graduate of Whitney M. Young Magnet High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Xavier University College of Pharmacy, followed by a Doctorate from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The daughter of two Florida A&M University graduates, Dr. Norwood, was instilled early with a deep commitment to education, leadership, and community service. Her father’s recruitment to Chicago by Walgreens, and his subsequent founding of Norwood Drugs, profoundly influenced her professional journey and affirmed her calling to the pharmacy profession.
Dr. Norwood began her career with Walgreens and later expanded her expertise as a pharmacy subject matter expert within a group purchasing organization and in hospital pharmacy leadership. She subsequently joined Cook County Health. Dr. Norwood served as the inaugural Director of Pharmacy for the CountyCare Medicaid Managed Care Plan. With more than 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Norwood currently oversees Cook County Health’s pharmacy enterprise. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity.
