Dr. Annise Lewis is a visionary educator and equity-driven leader with more than 20 years of experience transforming schools. A proud Hampton University alumna, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master’s in Teaching before beginning her career in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, where her commitment to equity and innovation earned District Teacher of the Year. 

Recruited to Chicago with Academy for Urban School Leadership, Dr. Lewis served as principal and later as Director of School Leadership and Chief of Schools, guiding multiple schools to the district’s highest performance through strong instructional leadership, data-driven practices, and community partnerships. She founded Advancing Leaders in Education Consulting and is an Adjunct Professor at National Louis University, supporting the development of educational leaders. 

Currently, Dr. Lewis is the Deputy Chief of Teaching and Learning for Chicago Public Schools, leading instructional impact for students. Her commitment to service includes the Chicago Urban League’s IMPACT Program, National Alliance of Black School Educators, and AASA. A Hampton University 40 Under 40 honoree and 25-year member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, she embodies service, sisterhood, and leadership.
