Winning! ‘Ride Along’ Tops Weekend Box Office, Opens To Record-Breaking $47.8 Million

Kevin Hart and Ice Cube’s buddy cop comedy Ride Along did big things at the box office this weekend. According to studio estimates Sunday, the film debuted at number one with $41.2 million.
The Tim Story-directed project earned the biggest debut for a movie released during Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend, and according to The Hollywood Reporter it’s expected to hit $48 million or more for the four-days.
The funny flick, which cost a modest $25 million to make, also earned an A CinemaScore.
Kevin, who is officially a movie star now, saluted producer Will Packer on his Instagram account for the major accomplishment.

Coming in at No. 2 was Lone Survivor, followed by The Nut Job at No. 3, Jack Ryan at No. 4 and Disney’s hit Frozen rounded out the top five.
