Since eta Creative Arts Foundation established its cultural organization at the YWCA, it has featured many cultural activities that interested children and youth created by Chicago and national artists. Currently, the organization, now located at 7558 S. South Chicago Ave., is featuring a contemporary children’s artistic musical adventure, Honey Bo and the Gold Mine, created by Will Power, which runs through July 31.
Power wrote the play especially for youngsters of all ages, including teens and the “young at heart.” The innovative revue is directed by Bobby Andrews with musical direction by Wander Bishop.
In the play, an unscrupulous land developer threatens to bulldoze 13-year-old Honey Bo’s neighborhood, but she is determined to prevent such action. To do that, she travels to the Hunted Gold Mine, battling misers, soul-less soul singers and her own fears to discover the gold within.
