The Chicago Defender had a chance to talk to Kendra G about “Social Society,” her new Instagram dating show, and her media career.

Social Society Kendra G Chicago DefenderChicago Defender:  How Did You Become Involved with “Social Society”?

Kendra G:  I was posting IG live for the AllBlk Channel for some of their shows from a promotional sense. I also have a show on Instagram for singles as well. I was at a point where I was ready to go to the next level and I was trying to pitch my singles show to AllBlk. During the pitch meeting, I was asked if I would ever consider traveling to Atlanta and I said absolutely. A month later they presented the idea of me joining “Social Society” for season two as a co-host.

Chicago Defender: For Those Who Are Not Familiar, what is “Social Society”?

Kendra G: “Social Society is a talk show, but we mix it up. The show is hosted by Kendall Kyndall, Reverend Run’s daughter, Angela Simmons, and Lil Wayne’s daughter, Reginae Carter. It is just the four of us. We are all incredibly unique and come from different backgrounds, so we bring different perspectives. That is what I love about us. We are opinionated and do not hold back especially when it comes to what we think and what we believe. “Social Society” works because we all respect each other’s input and outlook.

Chicago Defender:  There are so many different elements to the show. Can you talk about the format?

Kendra G:  We always open with a theme for each episode. Then we have “The Feed” which is more gossip or pop culture related. We also have distinctive features and some direct conversations with some of our guests, then we have a feature called, the “Classroom.”  In the last episode, we talked about NFTs, stocks, and trading. So “Social Society” is educational, entertaining, and fun.

Chicago Defender: So now you are going from Chicago to Atlanta, how are you balancing it all?

Kendra G:  It is a lot, but I am not going to lie, I prayed for this. You know I host the morning show on WGCI, and I fly to Atlanta on Wednesday evening and broadcast from Atlanta for WGCI, Thursdays and Friday Mornings. WGCI is a top priority. I have been with them for seven years hosting that show. On weekends I am building a society. Then I also host my show on Instagram live for singles, so it is definitely a lot. When I can I make time to rest. If that means laying on my couch the entire day, I do it. I am catching up on sleep for the week. I just try to pace myself and listen to my body as well.

Catch up with Kendra G on WGCI and on Instagram.  Social Society airs on the ALLBLK network. ALLBLK features a diverse lineup of content that spans genres and generations including independent films, nostalgic Black cinema, popular network TV, lively stage plays, and more. ALLBLK is available everywhere streaming services are found.
