Wendy Williams has formally moved to end her guardianship.
On Wednesday (February 12), Williams signed an affidavit requesting a judge remove her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrisey, according to TMZ.
The move comes as Williams is claiming that she’s “regained capacity” to function independently and is no longer suffering from frontotemporal dementia. Doctors diagnosed Williams with dementia last year.
According to reports, Williams is scheduled to be reevaluated by a doctor on Tuesday (February 18). The doctor was reportedly selected by the attorney representing Williams in the case to end her guardianship.
Sources told TMZ that Williams’ attorney is planning to file an “Emergency Order to Show Cause” following her medical evaluation. The petition will “force the issue,” prompting the judge to decide whether Williams’ guardianship will continue. If the petition is denied, Williams’ legal team is set to “demand” a trial by jury, according to reports.
The news comes after Williams appeared on Harvey Levin and Mark Geragos‘ “2 Angry Men” podcast, where she shut down claims that she’s “incapable” of functioning without guardianship.
Williams also spoke out about her son, Kevin Hunt Jr., contributing to the court’s move to appoint her a guardian. The former talk show host said her son “overstepped” her financial boundaries, leading Wells Fargo to freeze her accounts and triggering her guardianship.
“My son overstepped his boundaries. He overstepped his boundaries in terms of me. He was inappropriately using my money without telling me anything about it,” Williams said. “That’s when my money got stolen.”
“My son is a good person, but at this point, he is a horrible person to me,” she added. “It’s the way he moves with other people…What is going on with these other people at my apartment in Miami? What are you doing? You spent on what? And what is going on at Wells Fargo?”
