by Kai EL’ Zabar
Celebrating Individuals who have learned to embrace their color to enhance the lives of others . . .
Last weekend Creativity United under the direction of CEO Quinton de’Alexander hosted its annual “We Dream in Color” awards program at the DuSable museum. The evening began with a red carpet walk whereupon guests and honorees were interviewed. The doors opened to a pre reception where all those present had the opportunity to meet and greet one another and become more acquainted. It became increasingly obvious that the honorees were in good company.
The evenings program was dynamic and filled with high energy of music song and dance. The talent was first class. The mistress of ceremony Dana Devine of WGCI 107.5 FM who also graced the audience with an original song she wrote and composed inspired by her brush with cancer.
Mr. Alexander’s dream is to raise awareness and consciousness about all forms of ills that impact the health or over all well being of another human being.
Most of us think of sickness, disease and mental health issue as illnesses but Mr. Alexander says that from where he stands there are many other things, thoughts, actions and deeds that impact our health and well being.
Unlike the cure for breast cancer campaign represented by a pink ribbon his vision includes all sources that contribute to ones dis-ease with life.
Mr. Alexander says, “What’s different about Project ‘We Live And Remember In Color’ is that our goal is to bring awareness for A Cure and Equal Funding for All Challenges of Life. Such As Cancer, Racism, Anti-Bullying, Obesity, Crohns Disease, Discrimination of Any Sort and Arthritis, to name a few. As we celebrate those who have overcome unforeseen circumstances to share testimonies to Enhance, Encourage and Uplift the lives of others.”
