Cook County Clerk David Orr said 1,086 voters had cast votes by 10 a.m. today, the first day of early voting. “People are excited about this election and ready to take advantage of early voting’s convenience,” Orr said. This is the first presidential election where Illinois voters can participate in early voting. There are 43 suburban Cook County locations plus the City Clerk’s office downtown, 69 W. Washington, where voters can go to vote in advance of next month’s election. In south suburban Orland Park, 81 voters had cast their ballot between 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Other south suburban cities with early voter turnout include South Holland, 78 voters and Matteson, 68. At the north suburban Evanston Civic Center, 66 people cast ballots. Eric Davis lives in west suburban Oak Park and went the extra mile to be among the first to cast his vote early today. “I got here (at 7:30 a.m.) because I really wanted to be first to vote,” he said.
