VIDEO: #TheBIGS talk to NLDS Game 1 hero, Javier Baez

By Eugene McIntosh
Javier Baez spoke to #TheBIGS about his 8th inning homerun that lifted the Cubs to a 1-0 victory over the SF Giants at Wrigley Field to take a 1-0 lead in the best of 5 National League Division Series.
“I’m really excited to have a big hit obviously but even more in the playoffs you know,” Baez said.
Javy took a 3-2 pitch from Johnny Cueto into the left field bleachers but with the wind blowing in from left field, it almost didn’t make it out. “I got a little scared that the ball was gonna stay in. It barely went out but i’ll still take it. It still counts and we won the game.”

Javier Baez was surely the hero last night, but Jon Lester was the star as he went 8 innings giving up just 5 hits, no runs, and racking up 5K’s. Jon Lester was simply at his best and looked like the ace of the staff.
Giants starter Johnny Cueto wasn’t too shabby himself as he pitched 8 strong innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 10. That’s OCTOBER BASEBALL for you in a nutshell.
The Cubs will need much more out of the lineup tonight if they look to go up 2-0. Cy Young hopeful Kyle Hendricks versus ex-Cub Jeff Samardzija should be another pitchers duel. If the Cubs can jump out early, they’ll beto San Francisco looking to close out!
