Chicago police released a video on Saturday showing two suspects wanted in connection with the shooting death of retired CPD officer Larry Neuman.
Neuman, 73, was fatally shot Thursday at about 1:27 p.m. in the 4300 block of West Monroe Street in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. According to police and family friends, Neuman and his wife were working on their lawn when several men approached.
“He was at home in the yard and three young men came up. That’s what I understand happened; shots were fired, and he was hit,” Pastor Paul Sims told ABC7. “His wife had just gone inside. They were out cutting grass together and working together, and she had just gone inside, so yes, she was right there. She heard the gunshots.”

ABC7 reports that the shooting may have occurred during an attempted robbery. The surveillance video shows one suspect wearing a dark hoodie with a graphic on the back and Jordan shoes, while another suspect is wearing an Adidas dark hoodie with Jordan shoes. Both suspects appear to be between 16 and 21 years old.
Neuman joined the Chicago Police Department in 1982 and retired in 2010. He worked in arson and explosives and was the department’s longest-serving bomb technician. After retiring from CPD, he became a bomb appraisal officer for TSA.
It is with great sadness we mourn the loss of the longest serving explosives technician with the Chicago Police Bomb Squad and a very wonderful human being. Larry was a wealth of knowledge and truly a joy to be around. We pray for his soul and his family during this time. pic.twitter.com/q5wTuhL50G
