Last night while watching VH1’s Hip Honors: All Hail The Queens, we were blessed with some amazing talent on stage as Queen Latifah, Salt-N-Pepa, Missy Elliot and Lil’ Kim were honored.
First things first, Betty White gave the audience chills, including me, when she gave a dramatic reading of  Queen Latifah’s empowering 90’s jam, U.N.I.T.Y. She read with so much swag that you couldn’t help but wonder if she was an emcee in another life!
“Who you callin’ a bitch?” asked the Golden Girls star, 94. “I walked past these dudes. When they passed me, one of ’em felt my booty. He was nasty. Since he was with his boys, he tried to break fly. Ha. I punched him dead in his eye.” She also added that, “they don’t write ’em like that anymore.” We totally agree Betty!

You can watch White’s performance here.
Queen Latifah took the stage after White, commanding her own tribute. The New Jersey native performed “Latifah’s Had It Up 2 Here,” “Ladies First,” and gave a nod to her Oscar-nominated performance in Chicago before going into the smooth groove of “Come Into My House.”
When it was time to honor the one and only Misdemeanor Elliot, you couldn’t help but feel a bit of nostalgia.  Monica, Tweet and Fantasia came all the way through with their performances of “So Gone,” “Oops, Oh My..,” and “Free Yourself.” All songs either featured Missy or were wrote and produced by the “Get Ur Freak on” emcee. You can watch their tribute here.

Of all the performances I enjoyed Teyana Taylor the most, as she showed up and showed out honoring Lil’ Kim with a tribute performance with The Lox, Lil Mama, Dej Loaf and French Montana. Teyana slayed the hardest performing “No Time” and Queen Bee’s verse on “All About the Benjamins.”
