US Rep. Davis: Rostenkowski was ‘larger than life’

Congressman Danny Davis says the late Dan Rostenkowski was “larger than life” and a champion of revitalizing urban neighborhoods.

CHICAGO (AP) — Congressman Danny Davis says the late Dan Rostenkowski was "larger than life" and a champion of revitalizing urban neighborhoods. The Chicago Democrat served 18 terms in Congress and his district included part of the city. He died Wednesday at his home in Lake Benedict, Wis., at the age of 82. Davis is a fellow Chicago Democrat who says he knew Rostenkowski but didn’t serve in Congress with him. But he says both he and Rostenkowski served on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee and he still hears many stories about Rostenkowski’s time there. Davis says the people of Illinois will remember Rostenkowski with tremendous fondness and as a key player in Illinois politics. Copyright 2010 The Associated Press. (AP Photo/Charles Bennett, File)
