URBANA, Ill. — University of Illinois faculty are pressing Gov. Pat Quinn to consider their input when he hires new trustees to lead the university’s three campuses. The faculty Senate Executive Committee sent Quinn a resolution expressing its interest Monday. The committee met to discuss the scandal over the influence of politics on admissions at the Urbana-Champaign campus. Three trustees have resigned, and Quinn has asked the remaining six to step down. The governor on Monday said 140 people have applied for the openings. Faculty members say they may also weigh in on the roles of President B. Joseph White and Chancellor Richard Herman in the scandal. Herman apologized to the committee Monday but said he has no plans to resign. ______ In photo: Photos of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees are seen near the entrance to the Illini rooms in the Illini Union in Urbana, Ill.
