Two people crossing a Chicago street on foot have died after being hit by a car that was later found abandoned. Police Officer Laura Kubiak says a 50-year-old man and 34-year-old woman were crossing a busy street on the city’s North Side late Monday when a speeding car hit them. She says the car had a green light and didn’t stop. Officials later found the car abandoned a few blocks away. Police are searching for the driver. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as Christy Cawthon of Chicago. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she died.
