Two 16 year olds among weekend’s shooting victims

A total of eight people were shot–three fatally, including two 16 year olds–in separate incidents–since Saturday, police said. Donovan Morris-Beverly, 16, was fatally shot Saturday in the 4200 block of West Kamerling Avenue in Humboldt Park. Jarrell Johnson, 18, died from multiple gunshot wounds Saturday in the 700 block of South St. Louis Avenue. Two other men, ages 40 and 23, were also shot, but survived. An unidentified man and woman were shot Saturday in the 1400 block of West 48th Street. Police made an arrest in that incident. Arthur Tyler, 16, was fatally shot in the neck Sunday in the 6300 block of South Seeley Avenue by a 16-year-old acquaintance. The death is considered an accident, and the teen was charged with involuntary manslaughter, police said. Rodney King, 25, was killed Sunday after being shot in the head in the 400 block of East 62nd Street. Police have made no arrests in the other shootings. ______ Copyright 2008 Chicago Defender.
