Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago invites the public to experience a powerful tradition of reflection and faith this Good Friday, as it hosts its 7 Last Words Worship Service on Friday, April 18, 2025, at noon.
Led by Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III, Senior Pastor of Trinity, the service will unfold at the church’s sanctuary, located at 400 West 95th Street on Chicago’s South Side. The annual gathering will feature seven dynamic guest preachers, each offering a brief, spirit-filled meditation on one of The Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ, spoken during his final moments on the cross.
Together, their messages will form a rich and stirring narrative that reflects on the sacrifice, suffering, and redemptive love of Christ—anchoring the day in both solemn remembrance and spiritual renewal.
This year’s featured guest preachers include:
- Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie
- Rev. Dr. Teresa Fry Brown
- Rev. Melech E.M. Thomas
- Rev. Dr. Tisha Dixon-Williams
- Rev. Dr. Jennifer Carner
- Rev. Dr. Lance Watson
- Rev. Dr. Eugene Gibson
The “Seven Last Words” tradition has long been a cornerstone of Christian worship on Good Friday. It invites congregants into a deeper understanding of Jesus’s final acts of love and forgiveness. Trinity’s annual service is known for its depth, diversity of voices, and spiritual impact.
All are welcome to attend.
