On July 1, 2003, Tina Sanders, with her late husband, Gladstone Sanders, founded Phalanx Family Services, a fledgling social services agency with 3 adult workforce programs and less than 15 staff in the North Lawndale community on the Westside of Chicago. Now, in 2024, with over 70 staff members and 20 programs, Phalanx Family Services is one of the leading social services agencies in the state of Illinois.

Currently based in the Far South Roseland community, Phalanx Family Services provides a wide variety of adult, youth, training, and wraparound services for every member of the family. In addition, Phalanx Family Services hosts a series of 10 annual community events which attract crowds numbering over a thousand.

Tina Sanders is also a Commissioner of the Special Service Area 45, Commissioner of the Roseland Medical District, and President of the Far South Chicago Coalition, an advising body of 26 local organizations and community stakeholders whose aim is to promote the socioeconomic growth and development of the Far South region of Chicago.
