Timbaland went volcanic over the Lifetime biopic “Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B” on all of his social media platforms on Saturday night and into Sunday.
Fans were equally disapproving of the Wendy Williams-produced film that did not have the backing of the Aaliyah Houghton family nor any modicum of cohesiveness on the set. There were also highly questionable, if not downright laughable, casting choices for actors to play characters they did not even remotely resemble (this is a staple of highly-successful biopics as in Ray and “The Jacksons: The American Dream,” Coal Miner’s Daughter, etc.
The film was in shambles before filming even began and caved in like a sinkhole when it premiered on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014 to a hostile audience.
Timbaland, who wrote and/or produced some of Aaliyah’s most memorable hits, was disturbed by the movie to the point of near verbal violence and aired out his feelings. Other celebrities voice their displeasure as well. Take a look:
