‘They Love It’: James Brown’s Family is Raving About ‘Get On Up’ (Watch)

There’s no family drama here.
James Brown‘s family loved the biopic based on the late Godfather of Soul, “Get On Up.”
Plenty of Brown’s family went to early screenings of the film — including his daughters, Yamma and Deanna Brown; his grandson, Jason Brown; and ex-wife, DeeDee Brown.
Star of the film Chadwick Boseman told theGrio, “they love it,” referring to Brown’s family.
“They loved it. I ran into Yamma and she just hugged me… held onto me and basically was like, ‘we love it, we love it, we love it. I can’t wait for people to see it.’ Yamma, Deanna, DeeDee, the grandson, Jason Brown, they all have seen it, and they love it.”
But the praised didn’t stop with Brown’s family. The film’s producer Mick Jagger encouraged Boseman’s talent and ability to carry the film.
“Essentially he just said, ‘you got it. You have it.’ He just instilled confidence in me,” Boseman said. “He talked about James Brown a lot, and his passion, but once he saw us in rehearsal, he was like, ‘yeah, just keep going.’”
