ATLANTA — Actor Wendell Pierce, best known as one of the major players on the blockbuster cable series “The Wire,” spent Saturday morning cooling his heels in an Atlanta jail battery charges.
According to reports, Pierce struck up a conversation with a Bernie Sanders supporter in the lobby of the Loews Hotel in Atlanta.
The conversation turned to politics; and Pierce, who is voting for Hillary Clinton, got heated. Pierce shoved the woman’s boyfriend aside and began striking the Bernie supporter and pulling her hair, according to TMZ.
The couple were able to get away from Pierce, who notified authorities after contacting security.
Pierce, 52, was booked in Fulton County Jail on Saturday and released later that day on a $1,000 bond.
Further details about the arrest were not immediately known. A rep for Pierce did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
