Congratulations to Marvin Sapp whose song, "Never Would Have Made It," continues to make unprecedented history. The timely victory anthem stayed atop the gospel and urban charts for 47 weeks, making it the longest No. 1 radio single for all formats.
To add to the success of the song, the popular tune recently reached beyond the one million mark for ringtones. "Never Would Have Made It" officially sold 1.2 million ringtones.
“This is so exciting! I remain humbled by the overwhelming response to this song and thank everyone who made ‘Never Would Have Made It‘ their ringtone,” said Marvin Sapp. “This is truly more than I could ask or think, and I am grateful.”
Chicago get ready, this weekend is going non-stop. Dexter Walker and Zion Movement are preparing for a live recording for their second CD/DVD. The energetic and youthful choir founded by Dexter Walker has performed all over the country including the 2008 Chicago Gospel Music Festival. The chorale’s performances have gained them national exposure and recognition. Congratulations are in order as Chicago’s own Dr. Jessy Dixon is saluted as a Gospel Great! The festive gospel celebration is presented Friday by Light of Love, 7:30 p.m., at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 211 E. 115th St. The timely event will feature musical guests to salute the gospel legend: Albertina Walker, Inez Andrews, the Rev. Maceo Woods, Darius Brooks and the Tommies Reunion as well as Deandre Patterson. Dixon worked close with the Rev. Milton Brunson and the Thompson Community Singers and later traveled with Paul Simon. The popular singer continues to travel worldwide as a solo gospel artist and is often seen on TBN as well as performing with the Gaithers.
