As the country deals with loss and uncertainty during the pandemic, Nick Cannon, G Herbo, and Jabari Parker, along with Sauve House Records, the Ricky Davis Foundation has stepped up to launch the “Feed Your City Challenge.” This countrywide initiative challenges influencers to take action within their community.
“We’re taking responsibility for our own. We’re coming to feed the community. Cannon says. “You can’t lead the people until you feed the people.”
The line of cars and people who traveled by foot stretched as far as the eye could see. What stuck out the most is the gratitude that families showed. Not because they were able to have photo ops and met with “celebrities.” It was because this was the help that they all needed.
COVID-19 and food insecurities have impacted the Black communities the hardest. Black families will face hunger pains at a rate twice that of white, non-Hispanic families.
During the “Feed Your City” Challenge, several hundred pounds of food was given out to thousands of families, with the mission to give families in the community relief. And with all the smiling faces and teary eyes during this one-day event. I believe that mission was accomplished.
