No other term captures the vibe, energy or essence of Chicago in the Summer like #SummerTimeChi, coined by native son Kanye West. Speaking of which, our #SummerTimeChi calendar is the source for all things fun happening in and around the city this season.

Below is a list of events for this weekend and beyond. 

August

Englewood Village Market (August 26)

Grow Greater Englewood hosts the Englewood Village Farmers Market featuring fresh produce from local farmers, food, goods from Black-owned businesses and more. 

Invincible: A Glorious Tribute to Michael Jackson (August 26)

A stirring tribute to Gary’s favorite son at the Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana.  

Stokley of Mint Condition and Miki Howard at the Country Club Hills Amphitheater (August 26)

Few male R&B singers can bring it like Stokely, and Miki Howard, a true soul survivor, always scintillates when she performs.

Switch live at City Winery Chicago (August 26)

The legendary Ohio band is at the City Winery, where they will perform their memorable hits and display their flawless, honeyed vocals. 

South Shore SummerFest (August 27)

This beloved South Shore Cultural Center music festival is a Summer calendar must. Plus, soul singer Carl Thomas will be performing. 

Musiq Soulchild live at City Winery Chicago (August 28-September 1)

There are two things that Musiq Soulchild has: hits and bops. An entire bag of them. Thankfully, Chicagoans can get their fill when he performs eight shows over four nights at City Winery.

The 34th Annual African Festival of the Arts (September 1-4)

The venerable, long-running festival is bittersweet because it marks the end of Summer, yet it always yields unforgettable cultural experiences.

All Summer Long

Country Club Hills Amphitheater

All summer long, this venue has been hosting acclaimed performers like Will Downing, Earthquake, Luenell, Atlantic Starr, the SOS Band, Stokley, Angie Stone, Eric Benet and Kindred the Family Soul. Whew!

Jazzin’ at the Shedd

Live jazz is the ultimate elixir for the mid-week blues. That’s what this Shedd Aquarium event brings you every Wednesday throughout the summer. Jazzin’ lasts from June 7 – August 30, from 5 – 10pm. 

Millennium Park Summer Film Series

Not many experiences can top watching a great movie outdoors with loved ones as the Lake Michigan summer breezes caress the skin. Those are the vibes of the Millennium Park Summer Film Series.  Here’s what’s even better — it’s free! Fan favorites that will get the outdoor treatment at the Jay Pritzker Pavillion include Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Summer of Soul, Top Gun: Maverick, and Barbershop, among others. The Summer Film Series runs every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. from July 11-August 29.

Millennium Park Summer Music Series

Critically-acclaimed musicians from every corner of earth are featured during the Millennium Park Summer Music Series, which occurs Mondays and Thursdays from June 22 – August 21 at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion. This year’s lineup features notable acts like Stephen Marley, Big Freedia, Shemekia Copeland and PJ Morton. 

Pier 31 Restaurant

Seven days a week, all summer long, Pier 31 Restaurant and the adjoining 31st Street Beach will be central headquarters for live entertainment. So breeze through.

Ravinia Festival

This summer outdoor music series in Highland Park is an institution. Every year, Ravinia offers something for everyone. Notable acts playing this summer include Santana, The Isley Brothers, Boyz II Men, Lauryn Hill, Buddy Guy, George Benson, John Legend and Ne-Yo. 

South Shore Social Beach Club

The South Shore Social Beach Club is popping all summer long, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The venue’s House Music Fridays is a must, along with its various events and parties. The club is also serving up tasty food and cocktails. In essence, it’s all about the beats and eats.
