The 2016 DNC begins . . .

Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton with VP pick Kaine
Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton with VP pick  Virginia Senator Tim Kaine

The DNC is here. So what can we expect? Hillary will talk reality, platform, unity  and resolutions to issues
We watched the RNC  as Donald J. Trump spent the week terrorizing  every white rural male in America with his tales of rabid colored folk  as we would say but in mainstream politically correct lingo we’d say people of color.
He also informed us  that unemployment and violent crime have gone way up the past 8 years and police are fighting a running street battle for control of our cities.  Our taxes are the highest in the world while wages for “real Americans” is now, apparently, below that of Mexico… which is populated by brilliant deal-makers who have robbed us blind.
What he didn’t tell us is that when Obama walked into office America was  experiencing 800,000 job losses everyday. That the announced unemployed was close to a million daily.  The current  unemployment rate increased by 0.2 percentage point to 4.9 percent in June, and the number of unemployed persons increased by 347,000 to 7.8 million. These increases largely offset declines in May and brought both measures back in line with levels that had prevailed from August 2015 to April. (See table A-1.) Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult women (4.5 percent) and Whites (4.4 percent) rose in June. The rates for adult men (4.5 percent), teenagers (16.0 percent), Blacks (8.6 percent), Asians (3.5 percent), and Hispanics (5.8 percent) showed little or no change.
Though it’s far from perfect it is also a far cry from what was essentially America bleeding internally in 2008, under the Bush administration just before President Obama took office.
As for our taxes being the highest in the world, it’s all relative. We are the leading economy followed by China, Japan, Germany,  the United Kingdom, France, India, Italy, Brazil, and  Canada ranking number 10. So all that talk about making America great again is hog wash meant to fill in the gaps of how he will deliver what he promises to do.
Listen people building a wall  will take dollars but it will not keep people out.  And though Trump has a  rally chant, “Who’s going to pay?”  . . . “Mexico.” He hasn’t had dialog with the Mexican government about building a wall. Last, I checked he does not get to dictate what another country will do or not do. It is a matter of negotiation always based on dollars and sense.
Honestly, for all those who really listen to Trump, those who have any sense at all based on logic and deductible reasoning, know that the Republican Presidential candidate  is a uninformed man speaking from a very pedestrian point of view. His lack of government experience and knowledge of how politics are done is obvious. In his acceptance speech. He spoke like a dictator rather than a leader of the world’s leading democracy. He never once in his speech spoke of a ‘we’ but rather always spoke as “I.”  That’s dangerous because it negates the democratic process.
So DT  delivered a picture of an America suffering darkness, gloom and doom now and especially under  Hillary Clinton’s leadership when elected. His intention was to scare people. The only people more scared than white, rural, male “real Americans” are …. everyone else who imagine him as president.
Madame Secretary knows she doesn’t need to rally the base because Trump is base and he is a base-rallying -bomb.    Ohio is going to vote Democratic  thanks to John Kasich.  And note that no Republican has ever won without Ohio.  Pennsylvania will not be close.  Sanders and or Warren  might snare up the base a smidgen but Hillary is pushing this campaign deeper into rebel territory.
With Kaine as Hillary’s running mate, Virginia is probably already Blue.  So Madame Secretary is going to play for all the college educated thinking folks in the middle, who agree with the Washington Post, that Trump is a very real threat to the nation.
Kaine is a solid  progressive, exactly what a Vice President needs to be.  The year 2017 will be the Clinton White House.  Kaines strength is that he understands the constitutional right of all for example he doesn’t believe in abortion, but he believes that it isn’t his decision to make for a woman.  The Hillary Kaine ticket can talk to moderated independents and Republicans like that and get their point across.
If you recall, many think of Howard Dean as a great progressive, but don’t forget how many blue states he delivered to grant Nancy Pelosi her gavel.
So much has been made of Kaine’s ability to speak Spanish.  But more important he’s a former mayor and governor of Virginia, who speaks Southern. He understands the nuance.  The former Jesuit student also speaks religion.  That’s key.  Further, he is a non intimidating bridge to a middle America that lacks a rational party.  Handled right the  Hillary and Kaine ticket can win North Carolina, along with Arizona and Georgia. And they can win Texas too.  They can actually win both houses of Congress.  It’s a good team.
Hillary is in it to win.
