Thank God It’s Natural (TGIN) Foundation hosted its annual “Cocktails for the Cure” raising funds for breast cancer awareness & resources for minority women

Thank God It’s Natural (TGIN) haircare in conjunction with the TGIN Foundation hosted its 5th Annual “Cocktails for the Cure” fundraiser, on October 21, 2022 which took  place at The Old Post Office ( 433 W. Van Buren; Chicago, Il.)  Proceeds from the event aid African-American women under the age of 40 years old battling breast cancer and provide much needed access to medical services and transportation.

Thank God It’s Natural (TGIN) is the manufacturer of natural hair and skin care products founded by Harvard graduate Chris-Tia Donaldson who created TGIN because she was frustrated by the lack of hair products available for textured hair and desired products that were made with ingredients that she felt comfortable using on her body.

In 2015, Chris-Tia Donaldson was diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 36. During her treatment, she learned that having money could make the difference between living and dying when it came to treating this condition. In her observation, very few organizations existed that provided support and social services to help women with transportation, child care, parking, or seeking disability leave from their place of employment.  She created the TGIN Foundation, to specifically address these issues and implore women to listen to their bodies.

The proceeds from Cocktails for the Cure go towards supporting the Lyft Partnership, a nationwide program which provides free transportation for women to and from breast health appointments, as well as transportation to Covid-19 vaccination appointments for anyone regardless of gender.

“African-American women continue to die from breast cancer at higher rates than women of other races. It’s our mission to support uninsured women undergoing treatment for breast cancer, and stress the importance of early detection for women under the age of 40,” states Dr. Piper Farrell, Director of the TGIN Foundation.
