The Foundation of Northeastern Ilinois University presents a benefit concert for the Donn F. Bailey Legacy Hall renovation on Thursday, 7:30 p.m., in NEIU’s Auditorium, 5500 N. St. Louis Ave. The event stars The Emotions in "Emotional Memory," a new musical featuring their 1977 pop classic, “Best of My Love” and other hits. NBC 5’s Warner Saunders, an NEIU alum, will emcee.

Donn F. Bailey, Ph.D. worked in public education all of his adult life. After spending 12 years in Chicago Public Schools, he helped found NEIU’s Center of Inner City Studies and secured funding for its renovation in 1976. He served as director of the Center and as professor of Inner City Studies for more than 20 years, and continued to teach after his retirement.

In honor of his legacy in serving NEIU and the community with distinction and dedication, and for his 42 years of service in public education. NEIU celebrates Dr. Bailey’s memory by renaming the auditorium at the Carruthers Centner for Inner City Studies, 700 E. Oakwood Blvd., the Donn F. Bailey Legacy Hall. To purchase $100 and $500 tickets, call (773) 442-4633.
