A free day of film screenings, panel discussions with top photographers and scholars and a reception highlights Bobby Sengstacke Appreciation Day on Saturday at Woodson Regional Library, 95th and Halsted Streets. Photos, including those from his early images of the civil rights movement to portraits of everyday life in Chicago will be on exhibit as part of the Vivian G. Harsh Collection’s yearlong series of the Chicago Alliance of African American Photographers. Since 1999, MillerCoors has awarded $1.4 million to emerging minority businesses to stimulate economic growth and development in urban communities. The program provides additional Web-based educational resources including Webinars, blogs and business advice from national judges and past winners. The ultimate goal, says Larry Waters, MillerCoors’ director of multicultural relations, is to foster economic growth and to one day turn many of the winning businesses into minority suppliers for MillerCoors.
